Being sick has become my career.
Hearing from so many others, it seems to be the national pass time lately.
Since July I have struggled. First, I hurt my back in a new! and improved! way.
Then Mother became gravely ill.
My back pain lingered, leaving me in the bed two or three days at a time, including Thanksgiving.
About two weeks before Christmas I got a sinus infection I thought I had whipped, but it turns out it whipped me. Drained into my lungs so that my beautiful lungs became infected.
So, of course, the very strong antibiotics left me with no bacteria.
I have developed what the doctor thinks (test results soon) is colitis caused by the antibiotics.
Isn't that nice?
And what cures it?
Why, an antibiotic, of course.
I am struggling to remain upright as much as possible, and I don't mean upright in the bathroom. That's no problem.
Maybe after this medication kicks in, I can write about something else.
I have a few funny things stored up, really I do.
But I ain't feeling too funny right now.

I am almost afraid to say it...
I am almost afraid to say it...
But I think we are all well. I take my last antibiotic at supper tonight.
I only have 2 coughing fits a day. This is a vast improvement, and hopefully my ribs will heal before spring.
My nose is useful again, as air can come in it and out it.
What a wonderful feeling!
I went to church yesterday. It was nice to be back, felt like going home.
And speaking of home, ours is a wreck. Oh. my. word.
Daughter says she will vacuum this afternoon. I have cleaned up the kitchen and washed two loads of laundry.
Maybe it will look somewhat normal before spring, too.
To top it off, the sun is actually shining today, even if it is nippy outside.
Well, that's all the news for today.
Perhaps soon, and very soon, I will let you in on the adventures of getting my 85 year old mother a Kindle for Christmas.
As soon as my nerves settle enough.

Woe is Me
I've hardly blogged the past several days, because it is hard to think, even about something silly, maybe especially about something silly, when your brain -pardon me - is full of snot.
I've been sicker than sick and it finally traveled south to my lungs.
So now I'm on an antibiotic, an inhaler (hate, hate, hate, loathe), a decongestant and some other stuff.
I can tell the illness is getting better, though I have no energy and am enjoying the side effects from the antibiotics.
Husband started getting sick Saturday, so he went to the doctor this morning and they put him on the same antibiotic I am on.
Our church probably thinks we've become one of those families that show up every great once in a while to warm a pew.
I could go on, but you get the drift.
And if you are like anyone else I've spoken to lately, you don't feel so good yourself.
Later.

Suffering Amongst Us
My poor old brother has suffered a lot, and continues to do so. I have everybody I even remotely know praying up a storm (I hope) that he will get well, for goodness sake.
Of course, this has my elderly mother worried sick. She can't be there, she isn't able to ride that far, walk that far, or even stay, which of course, since he is still in ICU they wouldn't let her anyway.
As you know, I had me a kidney stone a few days ago, which resulted in lots of infection, which has resulted in them powerful antibiotics.
Which has resulted in all sorts of problems.
I woke up in the middle of last night curled into the fetal position with pain right smack dab where an old ulcer used to live.
I knew I had to have food. But Daughter saw me, and went downstairs for me, and brought me a sugar cookie and a glass of milk.
Awwww.
This worked for about three hours, and I awoke again, in more pain than before. I went into the bathroom and slung junk asunder under the sink until I found a bottle of Zantac and took myself a pill.
In about twenty minutes the pain eased enough for me to go to sleep.
Today has been uncomfortable, but I hope I can tolerate the medication, because I need to get rid of the infection.
However; I am swolle up.
If you ever wondered what a fifty-nine year old woman looks at five months pregnant, I'm your poster child.
And it ain't pretty.
You know it's bad when your sweat pants are too tight.
But in spite of all the misery, there is good news: The doctors have found what the problem is with my brother and hopefully can correct it now.
My first column is coming out in the local paper "The Best of Ellijay Blue Ridge Jasper".
A very popular store in Blue Ridge is taking one of my books, "Out on a Limb of the Family Tree" to sell because they think it will do great.
Daughter has responded to antibiotics and her throat doesn't look like Armageddon anymore.
See? There is always a silver lining.
Or two.

I Am Done All Swolle Up
I've been on some antibiotics for eight days (supposed to take them for ten). I have had a UTI (I know, I know, TMI).
So, anyway, I had some more than usual joint pain Sunday, but with me, one never knows what my body is going to do next, so I just endured it.
This morning around five I awoke with terrible joint pain in my fingers, hands, wrists, ankles and tosies.
I had to take my mother to the opthalmologist, and while in the waiting room noticed my ankles, especially my left one, was swollen.
That's a new one.
I finally got alarmed enough that I called my doctor when I got home. The nurse called back pretty quickly, which is odd, and they wanted to see me. Dang, I'd just got home....but anyway, I went.
I'm having a reaction to the antibiotics, so I have to stop. She figures I'm all better any way, having taken them seven and a half days worth.
So, doesn't that beg the question (not that I asked it), why come I was supposed to take it for ten days?
Anyway, I knew you were just waiting with baited breath as to why I hadn't blogged today (ha).
That's why. I'm all swolle up and it hurts to type.
Until next time.
